Before enrolling in your first Math Class at UCR
Procedure to obtaining your Registration Access for Fall 2006
All students must satisfy one of the following options before entrance into a math course at UCR.
Advanced Placement Exam: The University grants credit for all College Board Advanced Placement Test for which a student scores 3 or higher. Students must send official scores to Undergraduate Admissions Office. Math Advanced Placement Exam interpretation:
* AB Exam: scores of 3, 4, 5 = Credit for Math 9A
* BC Exam: scores of 3, 4, 5 = Credit for Math 9A and 9B
California Community College course equivalence to UCR courses, please visit www.assist.org.
Students who do not have any coverage as mentioned above must take the UCR Placement Exam through UCR Learning Center. For more information, please visit http://www.learningcenter.ucr.edu/testing/default.html

Although RegPIN's are no longer required to enroll in classes, all math majors are required to first receive advising before permission to register can be released . PLEASE FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW AS THEY PERTAIN TO YOUR CLASS STANDING (AS OF FALL 2006):
***TO FIND OUT WHICH CATEGORY APPLIES TO YOU... please refer to the Advisor/Advisee List posted on the Undergraduate Bulletin Board located across from the Math Department's front counter.***
| Juniors & Seniors assigned to Permanent Faculty Advisors | Sophomores w/ Priority |
Juniors and Seniors assigned to permanent faculty advisors : 1. Submit a course plan online via GROWL 2. Contact your Faculty Advisor: You must contact your faculty advisor for an advising appointment beginning May 1, 2006. To locate your faculty advisor's contact information, please view the Math Department website ( www.math.ucr.edu ) or the Undergraduate Bulletin Board. 3. Check out your academic folder: Right before your scheduled appointment with your faculty advisor, you must come to the Math Department with your Student ID Card to check out your academic folder. 4. Meeting with Faculty Advisor: You will discuss the types of math courses you plan enroll for in the upcoming quarter. Once you receive approval of a course plan, your faculty advisor will sign your academic folder. 5. Return your academic Folder to the Math Department: Once you've obtained your faculty advisor's signature, the Staff Advisor will review your file before releasing registration access. 6. Go on GROWL to register |
